HOURS
Part-Time, 10-15 hours per week. Beginning late summer through the fall semester. This would be a semester-long opportunity, with the possibility to extend through the spring. Lovin’ Spoonfuls office hours are Monday through Friday, the intern's part-time hours must be completed during these work hours. Additionally, the intern must be able to participate in Lovin’ Spoonfuls events including occasional weekends and after-hours on weekdays. This is an unpaid position.

LOCATION: This role will be hybrid, reporting partially to Lovin’ Spoonfuls office, located in Newton, MA, and partially remote. The Lovin’ Spoonfuls office location is not public transit accessible. 

POSITION SUMMARY
Lovin’ Spoonfuls seeks a late summer/fall semester Marketing & Communications Intern to perform a variety of tasks and assist our company’s marketing & communications effort. To be successful in this role, you should be well-organized, have great time management skills, strong written and communications skills, and be able to collaborate with members across multiple departments.
 
The internship can be arranged for credit.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities 

Content sourcing, background research, editing, and fact-checking 

  • Monitoring news alerts, flagging relevant articles, posts, etc. and elevating them to the team weekly; 
  • Conducting research to support the development of communications (i.e. researching the economic benefits of food rescue); 
  • Reorganizing photo library in Google Drive; 
  • Reviewing draft communications for accuracy and flow; flagging any need for edits; 
  • In step with ongoing analytics, assisting with pulling reports, screenshotting high/low performing posts, etc. 

Content generation 

  • Capturing photography and videography as directed by MarComm Manager; 
  • Editing video for Instagram Reels; 
  • With guidance from the MarComm Manager, may develop draft communications (i.e. social posts, graphics) consistent with our communication plan and will be reviewed according to our ordinary process for vetting external comms.

Making routine updates to communications 

  • Incorporating the latest stats into external-facing communications including: Brand decks, one-sheets, website, etc.
  • Formatting blog content in Wordpress.

Event support 
  • Using templates, updating event signage; 
  • Providing day-of-event support including at Ultimate Tailgate Celebration, October 16, 2022

Skills Knowledge and Expertise

  • Commitment to Lovin’ Spoonfuls’ mission 
  • Strong communication skills - verbal and written
  • Demonstrated creativity and attention to detail 
  • Proactively seeks out, evaluates, and incorporates feedback as appropriate to strengthen comms
  • Experience with basic tools/programs/platforms in a communicator’s toolbelt: Canva, WordPress, Constant Contact or other mail programs, social media, AirTable, Hootsuite, etc.
  • Working toward an undergraduate degree in Marketing, Communications or related area of study 
  • Attends school in Lovin’ Spoonfuls’ service area (we’d like the person to come into our office at least once per week)
  • Car required for travel to partner locations off public transportation (mileage reimbursed) 
 
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job operates in a professional office environment as well as various off-site events. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.

A resume screen and introductory phone call by member of our Leadership Team
An in-person interview with member(s) of the Leadership Team and other departmental staff members as appropriate (currently all interviews are being held via Zoom)
