Undergraduate Intern – OPS - Quality Control – Lab Equipment (Summer 2019)

Amgen’s 10 – 12 week internship program offers meaningful project experiences that impact patient’s lives. This internship provides the opportunity for executive and social networking events and to participate in community volunteer projects while providing a competitive compensation. Relocation housing and/or transportation allowance may be available for eligible candidates.

Amgen’s manufacturing facility in West Greenwich, RI is looking for students with outstanding academic records and demonstrated leadership capabilities. An internship at Amgen is a hands-on learning experience under the guidance of an Operations Manager. Interns are matched to meaningful and challenging projects.

Participation as an intern has the potential to lead to an offer to join the Rotational Leadership Development Program or other entry-level full-time position upon college graduation in 2020, depending on available positions and an evaluation of your performance.

Quality Control – Lab Equipment
This position provides the opportunity to work directly with Quality Control management and staff to improve data accessibility related to QC Laboratory equipment. Coaching, mentorship, and guidance will be provided to the intern as they engage in the following project:

·       The intern will develop a Spotfire tool to pull information from Maximo and LMES to integrate data for a potential meter-based equipment maintenance program. Meter-based maintenance has already been implemented for some manufacturing equipment, so the intent is to extend the approach to QC equipment.
·       The intern will also improve the Maximo data for QC equipment (e.g. spare parts) to better align QC equipment data with Facilities and Engineering standards and expectations. Having spare parts identified in our Maximo system will allow for quick issue resolution when trouble-shooting equipment repairs, decreasing equipment down-time.
