Undergraduate Intern – OPS (Quality Control – Global Network )

Amgen’s 10 – 12 week internship program offers meaningful project experiences that impact patient’s lives. This internship provides the opportunity for executive and social networking events and to participate in community volunteer projects while providing a competitive compensation. Relocation housing and/or transportation allowance may be available for eligible candidates.

Amgen’s manufacturing facility in West Greenwich, RI is looking for students with outstanding academic records and demonstrated leadership capabilities. An internship at Amgen is a hands-on learning experience under the guidance of an Operations Manager. Interns are matched to meaningful and challenging projects. 
Participation as an intern has the potential to lead to an offer to join the Rotational Leadership Development Program or other entry-level full-time position upon college graduation in 2020, depending on available positions and an evaluation of your performance. 

Corporate Quality Control – Global Network
This position will provide the opportunity to work directly with both Amgen Rhode Island and the QC Global Network across Amgen. Coaching, mentorship, and guidance will be provided to the intern as they engage in the following project:

Assist the QC Global Network with implementing an updated electronic Laboratory Information Management System across the company. The ideal candidate will help with the overall implementation strategy and process to implement and update an electronic system. This individual may also assist with evaluating current procedures to determine if procedures that are used at the sites could be migrated into Global procedures thus reducing redundant documents and streamlining processes globally.

Basic Qualifications:
Amgen requires that all individuals applying for an undergraduate internship or an undergraduate co-op assignment at Amgen must meet the following criteria: 

18 years or older

Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s Degree program from an accredited college or university with a 3.0 minimum GPA or equivalent

Completion of at least one year of study from an accredited college or university prior to the internship commencing

Enrolled in a full time Bachelor’s program following the potential internship or co-op assignment with an accredited college or university

Must not be employed at the time the internship starts


Preferred Qualifications: 
Pursing a degree in Life Sciences

GPA 3.5 or higher

Junior standing

Knowledge of MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint)

Basic understanding of computer programming and how to query information from electronic systems

Proven leadership experience on campus (e.g., projects, clubs, organizations, sports)
Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, project management, problem solving, analytical and quantitative skills

Demonstrated personal initiative, self-motivation, flexibility and adaptability

Biotechnology, pharmaceutical or health care industry experience
