Undergraduate Intern – OPS - F&E Equipment Engineering (Summer 2019)

Amgen’s 10 – 12 week internship program offers meaningful project experiences that impact patient’s lives. This internship provides the opportunity for executive and social networking events and to participate in community volunteer projects while providing a competitive compensation. Relocation housing and/or transportation allowance may be available for eligible candidates.

Amgen’s manufacturing facility in West Greenwich, RI is looking for students with outstanding academic records and demonstrated leadership capabilities. An internship at Amgen is a hands-on learning experience under the guidance of an Operations Manager. Interns are matched to meaningful and challenging projects. 
Participation as an intern has the potential to lead to an offer to join the Rotational Leadership Development Program or other entry level full time position upon college graduation, depending on available positions and an evaluation of your performance. 

Facilities & Engineering – Equipment Engineering
This position will provide the opportunity to work within the Facilities & Engineering Department supporting our new Next Generation Biomanufacturing plant which is currently in construction at our RI campus. Coaching, mentorship, and guidance will be provided to the intern as they engage in the following project:

Support the Next Generation Biomanufacturing project within the Equipment Engineering Department. Responsibilities would include the creation of asset and location records, spare parts lists, job plans, and preventive maintenance records in Maximo. Commissioning support as required. Identify and implement innovation opportunities within the Utilities Operations and Maintenance Job Scope as noted below:

·       Identify Efficiency / Improvement Opportunities
·       Identify Actionable Options for Improvement
·       Provide Projected Results - Cost / Man-hours Savings
·       Provide Action Taken and Status Update

Basic Qualifications:
Amgen requires that all individuals applying for an undergraduate internship or an undergraduate co-op assignment at Amgen must meet the following criteria: 

·       18 years or older
·       Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s Degree program from an accredited college or university with a 3.0 minimum GPA or equivalent
·       Completion of at least one year of study from an accredited college or university prior to the internship commencing
·       Enrolled in a full time Bachelor’s program following the potential internship or co-op assignment with an accredited college or university
·       Must not be employed at the time the internship starts


Preferred Qualifications: 
·       Pursing a degree in Engineering (Mechanical preferred)
·       GPA 3.5 or higher
·       Strong knowledge of MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
·       VBA for Excel and SQL knowledge
·       Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, project management, problem solving, analytical and quantitative skills
·       Demonstrated personal initiative, self-motivation, flexibility and adaptability
·       Proven leadership experience on campus (e.g., projects, clubs, organizations, sports)
